free website trafficTraffic. On your way to do morning school drop off it’s a nightmare, on your way to building a successful home business it’s a delight.

In business full stop, not home based business, they key to success is getting enough people to view your product or service.

Marketing a business online is completely foreign to most people and being able to get eyeballs to see a website is something that many business owners struggle with.

But it doesn’t need to be that way, in fact quite the opposite, as you can build healthy levels of traffic to your home business website with a few simple tactics that anyone can do..

Here are 5 no-cost ways to drive traffic to your home business website:

Forums:

There are plenty of websites that have forums attached where website visitors can go in and post a question for other readers to answer. This provides a great opportunity for you as an expert in your field of business, to become a helpful forum contributor by answering those questions, contributing in a positive way and helping people out.

All you do is find a relevant forum and register to be a contributor (takes 2 minutes). When you go through the setup you will be able to add your website URL in your forum comment signature, meaning that each time you comment, a link back to your website will display.

To find relevant forums, do a Google search for “Your target keyword” + “Forum”.

I found a couple good forums early on when launching this website and one in particular generates a constant flow traffic to my website off the back of a handful of forum contributions that I did months ago.

People will come across your forum comments when they sort through forum threads, and even in Google searches as forum comment threads quite often rank on the first page of Google. They can become a fantastic source of ongoing free traffic for your website.

Social media:

You have probably heard this over and over again, but Facebook is a big one for business on a budget. You can literally feed qualified leads into your business on auto pilot if you follow some simple Facebook marketing tips. I’m actually not going to do that here because there are two fantastic articles that two successful home business owners have contributed on this site already.

You can find them here:

Facebook Networking For An Endless Supply Of Leads

Guest posts:

These are articles that you write and submit to other website and blog owners to display on their sites. Some allow free guest posts, others charge a small fee. But all you do is contact a handful of website owners that are operating in a similar niche to your business (probably not direct competition) and ask them if they would allow you to provide.

To find a list of potential blogs to submit to, search “Your target keyword” + “guest post”. Contact those site owners and ask to contribute an article.

Article marketing:

Similar to guest posting, this is where you write an article for another website. The difference though is that this is done through article directories. These are websites that are just a bunch of articles submitted by people from around the world. EzineArticles.com, PubArticles.com, GoArticles.com and Infobarrel.com are three that I have used that have generated ongoing traffic.

To submit to these sites, you just sign up for a free account and start writing articles. In, or at the end of your article, you will be able to include a link back to your website. When people read through the article and want a little more information, the logical next step is to click through to the author’s website (your website that is)!

Blog commenting:

If you don’t know what this is, scroll down below and you will see a section where you can enter your name, email, website address and a comment. The vast majority of blogs and website nowadays allow visitors to comment on their articles.

Did you know that one quality comment on an article can be a source of ongoing traffic to your website for years on end?

You see, most people will understand that if they hover over your name just above your comment after it is approved, it will actually be a live link to your website.

If your comment is thought provoking and provides value to the conversation, a number of readers of the article will actually click through to your website. So your 2 minute comment has turned into a $0 source of traffic to your website. Nice!

Go on, drop a comment below and see how many people over the next 12 months click through to your website!
